How do I use PayUp?

Open any iMessage conversation, tap the App Store icon next to the text field, then choose PayUp. Set your names the first time. After that, tap an amount on Pay, Receive, or Request, then hit Send. The other person taps the message in chat to confirm.

What's the difference between Pay, Receive, and Request?

Pay logs money you sent. If you owed them, your debt goes down. Otherwise they now owe you.

Receive logs money you got. Tap "Balance" to clear the full amount they owe in one tap.

Request asks them for money. They tap to agree, which creates a debt they owe you.

Where does my data live?

Entirely on your device. PayUp does not use accounts, servers, or analytics. The shared ledger lives in the iMessage thread itself, with each side storing their copy locally. Delete the app and the data goes with it.

Can I edit our names later?

Yes. Tap the people icon at the top-left of PayUp. Use "Save" to update your local names, or "Save & Share" to suggest those names to the other person too. They'll see a message they can tap to accept the suggested names.

What if we disagree on a transaction?

The recipient can tap any pending message and choose "Disagree". The transaction is rejected, and your ledger reflects only what both of you confirmed.

Why is the message blank or stuck on "Pending"?

Most often it means the message wasn't sent. PayUp drafts each message into your input field, but you still need to hit Send. Check your iMessage thread and resend if needed.

Does PayUp move actual money?

No. PayUp tracks what you and a friend agree on. Send the actual money however you normally do (cash, Venmo, Zelle, etc.) and use PayUp to log that it happened.
